Our identity

What has defined us for nearly 70 years

Founded by Florence and Fabrice Grand, drawing on solid experience in the automotive industry and eleven years in the surface treatment of metals in Haute-Savoie, METAL-X was built on recognised expertise in electrochemistry and on the technical and commercial complementarity of its founders. The company structured its growth around the industrialisation of processes, electrochemical innovation and a management style based on team autonomy. In 2006, Schneider Electric entrusted METAL-X with an industrial operation unique in Europe, marking the start of a partnership as a Tier 1 supplier and of an approach based on co-development. Certified to IATF 16949 and approved by Bosch, the company works directly with international customers. Today the company relies on eight production lines, 2 of them dedicated to innovative treatments, sixty employees and an in-house laboratory of specialist engineers. The company anticipates technological change, notably in the field of e-mobility, and develops custom solutions.

In 2026, METAL-X opens a new chapter in its history with the arrival of Guillaume Bouteyre and Sébastien Nucci at the head of the company. To support this transition, the new leaders will be able to rely on Franceline in production and Romain in sales development, two key employees who, for many years, have known the company, its business, its customers and its operations in depth. This complementarity between the new leadership and the company’s long-standing managers helps to preserve know-how and the relationships of trust built over the years. It also brings fresh momentum to continue investing, develop new markets and prepare the next industrial developments.

More than a subcontractor, METAL-X is a reliable industrial partner, able to design, secure and industrialise custom solutions that meet the most demanding specifications, while actively preparing the industry of today and tomorrow.

The story of METAL-X

A historic Chablais company with a long-term vision

METAL-X grew out of a local industrial story dating back to 1956, when the metal treatment workshop Chromelectro was founded by the three Dumas brothers. At that time, the company worked mainly for the local furniture industry, then booming, carrying out chiefly chrome treatments on parts such as table legs, stools, chairs and plates, notably for Formica furniture.

As the industrial landscape changed and several companies in the sector gradually closed, the business then shifted towards zinc treatment, before being taken over for a few years by a Paris-based owner.

METAL-X was born from a buy-out in 2000. Since then, the company has grown without ever losing its DNA: a human-scale organisation, decisions taken for the long term and a relationship of trust maintained with every employee and every customer. This model is a strength: it guarantees stability, commitment and a long-term vision.
